Armenia’s president resigns after finding himself more figurehead than power broker

The president of Armenia has introduced his resignation, complaining that his workplace is just not granted enough powers to permit him to be an efficient head of state.

Armen Sarkissian was chosen as president by the nationwide parliament in 2018, as Armenia was transitioning from a presidential system of presidency to a parliamentary one. He was advisable for the job by outgoing president Serzh Sargsyan.
